Neurorehabilitation & musculoskeletal pain, explained by a specialist

Prof. Dr. Engin Çakar is a pioneering physician in comprehensive neurorehabilitation, with advanced experience in combining classical rehabilitation methods and robotic rehabilitation in a hybrid approach. He is a specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and in Pain Medicine (Algology), and holds an MSc in Electrodiagnostic Neurology. His two equal areas of focus are neurorehabilitation after stroke, brain or spinal cord injury and neurological disease, and musculoskeletal pain of the spine and joints.

Areas of expertise

Robotic physiotherapy and rehabilitation

Robot-assisted gait training and upper-limb (arm, hand and finger) robotic therapy, used as part of physical medicine and rehabilitation alongside classical methods. Robotic therapy supports intensive, repetitive, task-oriented practice for relearning movement.

DrCakar NeuroRecovery Method

Two well-established principles of neurorehabilitation guide recovery: time is brain, which calls for starting rehabilitation as early as it is medically safe, and use it or lose it, which holds that intensive, repetitive use of affected functions drives neuroplasticity. The DrCakar NeuroRecovery Method takes these principles into account and brings together technology-focused treatments, such as robotic rehabilitation, with classical physiotherapy and rehabilitation methods in a hybrid synthesis, planned individually by Prof. Dr. Engin Çakar.
